The JCR Committee represents the entire undergraduate student body of St Catherine’s. We’re here to represent your views, address your concerns and organise a whole load of amazing events! Committee members are elected in Hillary or Trinity term, they hold the position for one academic year and you can read more about what everyone does below:
President
Jonas Fine Tan – jcrpresident@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Heya! I’m Jonas (he/him or anything else), I’m a linguist here at Catz, and I’m your JCR President for this year. My role is mainly to be your voice to college, where I discuss how we can make Catz an even better place, and put forward our ideas, which are discussed in open meetings (where we debate and vote on them). Open meetings may sound scary, but they’re a great place to see your voice represented, and to also get to know the many other lovely people in Catz. I am also here to support the JCR and JCR committee, so please feel free to drop me a line at jcrpresident@stcatz.ox.ac.uk at any time. Much love to y’all!
Vice President
Charlie Jones – charles.jones@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hey! I’m Charlie (he/him) and I’m Catz’s JCR Vice President. I study Economics and Management in second year and I’m proudly from Northampton, UK, in the Midlands – same house all my life! I assist the JCR President (and the wider committee) closely in their day-to-day jobs as well as having some responsibilities of my own… I organise the room ballot, college photographs, building and facility maintenance, among other cool things. I applied to Catz and love it here so much, so I’d encourage prospective, as well as current, students to get in touch with me to ask any questions or just generally chat! 🙂
Secretary
Abbie Nott – abigail.nott@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hiya everyone! I’m Abbie (she/her) and I’m the JCR Secretary. I study English Language and Literature and I’m from West Yorkshire. The main part of my role is creating the agenda and minutes for JCR open meetings, so that everyone in college can keep up to date with what’s going on and how they can have their opinions heard. I also keep the notice boards up to date and share opportunities that are available in college/the wider university. If you have any questions about open meetings or anything else, always happy to help!
Treasurer
Leah Rich – leah.rich@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hey! I’m Leah (she/her), I study PPE and I am the current treasurer at Catz. Though, my most important job is to order the pizza 🍕 for the JCR open meetings fortnightly. If you have any questions about how this all works, feel free to message!

We want to make art as accessible as possible, emphasising its positive effect on student welfare as well as showcasing the talent we have here at Catz! We manage the arts and publishing budgets so if you need any funding for arts supplies or want to organise any arts events, give us a shout! Catz’s passion for the arts is evident at its roots as the original quad of the college was designed in its entirety – right down to the cutlery – by renowned Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. We want to boost the energy of the established arts scene at Catz by continuing to provide a variety of events such as music nights, life drawing sessions, painting classes, exhibitions and more. We’re very excited to see you all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Alternative Entz
Duncan McCormick – duncan.mccormick@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hello! I’m Duncan (any pronouns). I study physics, and I’m your Alternative Events Rep for this academic year. This means that I organise alternative activities and events to take place during every Entz, and hopefully also for every Unofficial Entz. There will also be plenty of additional events in Freshers’ Week. If you don’t like loud music, alcohol or crowds, but still want a place to go to socialise or meet new people, then Alt Entz is the place for you! Of course, there are plenty of other reasons to come — not least the exciting programme of activities planned for this year, including joint events with Catz societies and other colleges (not to mention free cookies!). Even better, you don’t have to choose between Entz and Alt Entz — you can come to Alt Entz first and then go to Entz later in the evening, or you might take one look at the Entz and think “I want free cookies instead”. I can’t wait to welcome everyone to Catz; if you have any questions, then please do contact me by email.

Adjusting to life at Oxford and Catz itself may seem difficult but with the help of myself and the BAME community you’ll be provided with a safe and fun place to help you feel at home. Catz has one of the greatest BAME communities and I hope we can continue to build on this. I’ll help keep you informed about events going on in Oxford, as well as organise some in Catz, so you can make the most of your time here. I also liaise with the LGBTQ+ Campaign, who are working to push for positive change for queer and trans students. Joining the Catz and Oxford LGBTQ+ Societies is a great way to get involved, and my email is always open.

Becky Roodt – rebecca.roodt@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hey everyone! We’re Meg (she/her) and Becky (she/her) and we are this year’s women*’s reps. We are studying History and Biology. Our job is to represent the interests of all women* at Catz, including cis women, trans women, and everyone who identifies with an aspect of the term ‘woman’. We want to make Catz a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students, especially its community of women*. To do so, we will be running consent workshops year-round, arranging events and meet-ups for Catz FemSoc, and sign-posting the resources available to the women* of Catz. Above all, our role as women*’s reps is to make sure that the students we represent have the best possible experience of living in Catz and studying at Oxford, so please reach out to us about anything, big or small, and we’ll do our best to listen to and support you.
Suspended Students
Erin Portia Broadhurst – erin.broadhurst@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hi, I’m Erin and I’ll be your Suspended Students Rep! I’m 2nd Year PPL, and I love theatre, animals and a bit of true crime… I suspended my studies in HT of first year to pursue an ADHD diagnosis, so I know how hard it can be. During my time in the role I promise to do all I can to make the suspension process as pain-free and positive as possible!
Charities
Josie Thornton – josephine.thornton@stcatz.ox.ac.uk
Hi, I’m Josie (she/her)! I study English and Spanish and I’m the JCR charity rep. My role involves all things charity at Catz – organising the weekly Monday night quiz, fundraising with events each term like Catz Take Me Out, and generally keeping students informed about any charity opportunities both in college and across Oxford. I’m here to help out if you have any ideas for events you’d like to put on, or if you have questions about supporting charities and fundraising in college. We also choose a charity to support every year, alongside ‘Emilies Charities’, and nominations for this take place at the beginning of the academic year. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions at all – I’m here to help! Looking forward to seeing you at the Monday night quiz 😉
