The JCR Committee represents the undergraduate student body of St Catz. We’re here to represent your views, address your concerns and organise a whole load of amazing events!
Committee members are elected in Hilary or Trinity term and they hold the position for one academic year.
President

Hi everyone! I’m Elizabeth (she/her), I’m a second year French student, and I’m your JCR President for 2025-26. As President, I lead the JCR Committee in running Catz JCR. A big part of my role is to act as a link between undergraduate students and the governing body of college, ensuring that your views are heard and that Catz represents its students as well as possible. I also chair our biweekly open meetings, which is where you can bring any questions or issues to the attention of the JCR. I also meet with other JCR Presidents around Oxford to exchange ideas to make Catz JCR as efficient and welcoming as possible. I’m really excited for the coming year, and the opportunity to represent the views of my peers within both the college and the university as a whole. I’m Rebecca, a second year studying Biochemistry and I am the JCR vice president for this year! I support the JCR president and help to bring the thoughts and ideas of the JCR to college to make sure everyone’s voices are heard. You will often see me running, as well as at all the college quizzes, music nights and open meetings, and I am always up for a chat!

Hi everyone, I’m Iona – a 2nd year English student, here at Catz. I’m your JCR Secretary for this year and am in charge of all things admin/communication within the JCR! This means that I send out frequent emails regarding relevant information, such as Open Meeting Minutes and various promotional content. I also run JCR committee elections and can be consulted if you have any questions about the JCR constitution. If you scroll to the bottom of my emails, you’ll also see a picture of my dog (Shishu) at the end of each one!!

Hi – I’m Kaden(He/Him). I’m a second year student and am excited to be your Treasurer this year. My job is to keep track of the budget and reimburse the necessary people. I will also be taking part in rent negotiations with college on behalf of the JCR. I’m excited to be a part of our JCR committee and look forward to all the fun that should come with it. Myself and Seb are in charge of all things welfare around college, including (but not limited to): restocking the plodge box, running events and a weekly munch! we are available if anyone wants a chat about anything and can also signpost to professionals if needed!
Men*’s Welfare

Hi wheels! I’m Seb, a 2nd year biologist at Catz and I will be the Men*’s Welfare Rep this year! On top of regular jobs like hosting our weekly munches and keeping the plodge box filled with health products, I will also be focusing on some campaigns specific to men’s health, such as Movember. In collaboration with the other welfare reps as a welfare team, we will also host one-off welfare events such as the fifth week Freddo scheme and a petting zoo. I am always happy to chat if anyone has any concerns – don’t hesitate to contact me!
LGBTQ+ Welfare

Hi, I’m Thomas (he/him). I’m a [third] year law student and this years LGBTQ+ welfare rep. As one of your welfare reps, I will be available to chat with you about any problems you have, or refer you to someone who can provide you with the help you need. I really want to make your experience here at Catz as great as it can be! Although I am the LGBTQ+ welfare rep, I am happy to talk to anyone about any manner of support. You’ll see me and the other welfare reps around college, most prominently every Sunday when we set-up and host munch (a popular weekly event where we provide snacks to boost your mood). We also fill the plodge box with sexual health and sanitary products. I look forward to meeting you over the coming year and feel free to contact me with any issues you may have or even just for a chat!

Hi, we are Nye and Ayaan! Nye studies Computer Science and Ayaan studies Psychology and Philosophy. We are honoured to be this year’s IT rep. Our role involves helping fix any technical issues you might have, especially in freshers week with Eduroam! We are also responsible for running referendums and elections for committee positions, and maintaining the JCR website. We also help to liase with the college to setup mailing lists. I’m also your first point of call for any advice you might need for your creative projects at catz whether that be for organising logistics or funding!
Hey everyone! I’m Diya (she/her) and I’m one of your arts reps this year. I study biology, and I’m very excited to be an art rep for this year. Although I’m not really good at arts, I really think it’s important for wellbeing, relaxation and most importantly, to just have fun. The collaborations and pottery painting are what I’m most excited to run this year. I’m here to support prospective and current Catz students regarding financial difficulty and I am specifically aiming to widen access from under-represented groups in Oxford! I work with the outreach team quite closely, and also act as a signpost for students who find themselves in financial trouble, or who need help with an issue like estrangement.
